casting on & know how to knit & purl.  
description: This class will not only be good for advanced beginners, but
those knitters looking to expand their knowledge of different cast on
methods.  The class will review the knit on method of casting on and then
teach the cable cast on (knit & purl), the crochet cast on & the long tail
cast on. 
supplies needed: Small quantities of smooth worsted weight yarn - enough to
cast on 3 groups of 20 stitches and work several rows. 
1 Pair of knitting needles (circular or straight does not matter) in a size
suitable for your weight of yarn. 
1 crochet hook also appropriate for your yarn weight - probably a size g or
H.
