[Nfb-krafters-korner] Socks - WAS: Magic Loop

I just ran a search and it does use double knitting, but the below article 
from one of my favorite sources (knitty.com), seems to indicate double 
pointed needles, not magic loop.  My brain is a little tired right now and 
this is the type of thing that for me will need a bit more study time.  So 
I'm just wondering if you can knit two socks at the same time with double 
knitting in the round (DPN's) why can't it be done with magic loop as well. 
I know it must be very complex at least for the first go through.  Here's a
