How to Make SSK Knitting Stitches
By an eHow Contributor
SSK knitting stitches are easier to make than they sound. SSK is an
abbreviation for "slip slip knit." It is a way of decreasing the number of
stitches on your needles, and is used to make your knitted piece smaller.
.Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructions.Things You'll Need:
Knitting needles
Yarn
1Start with at least three stitches on your left needle.

2Slip one stitch from your left needle to your right needle. Do not knit
this stitch. Simply put your right needle through the stitch and slip it off
of the left needle and onto the right needle.

3Repeat Step Two. You now have two slipped stitches on the right needle.

4Insert the left needle through the two slipped stitches on the right
needle.

5Wrap the yarn around the right needle and knit the two stitches as you
would ordinarily knit one stitch.

6The two slipped stitches have become one stitch. You have decreased one
stitch and should have one fewer stitch on your needles at the end of this
row than you did in the previous row.

Slip Slip Knit (SSK)

Slip Slip Knit.
(c) Sarah E. White, licensed to About.com, Inc.Definition:
Slip slip knit or SSK is a basic way to decrease stitches. It makes a
decrease that slants to the left and is often paired with knit two together,
which is a right-slanting decrease.

To execute this decrease, slip the first stitch as if to knit, slip the
second stitch as if to knit, then slide the left-hand needle into the front
part of both stitches and knit them together.

Also Known As: SSK

Hope that is helpful?
