[Nfb-krafters-korner] Washing and blocking yarn items

Washing/blocking can also be used to even out the stitch tension, although
it is most often referred to when talking about getting a pattern or fabric
to lay properly. Yes Joyce, I've wondered about what happens after you wash
an item that was previously blocked for shaping.

Do you wash and block with man made fibers too?

I always thought blocking was used for forcing the shape of a garment to be
perfect. So what happens once a garment is washed the second time or more?
Does the blocking maintain or have to be re done?

The fabric becomes much more smooth and fluid after washing and blocking.
the garment hangs on the body much nicer afer you do thi - it softens the
fabric and makes it very fluid - it evens out the surface and stitches -
relaxes them. There is a very bid difference in appearance and wearing of
this fabric. Blocking puts the fabric garment into the exact shape it
should be. It makes an enormous difference.
