I just got finished trying my hand at drying fresh basal.  I took all of the
leaves off of the stem and layed them out on a well oiled pizza stone.
While I was prepping the leaves, I set the oven to preheat.  My goal was to
set the oven temperature to 125 degrees, but my oven would not allow me to
do that.  The lowest temperature I could set it to was 200.  Once the oven
reached the set temperature, I turned off the oven and placed the filled
pizza stone in the oven and checked on it every 5-10 minutes for the next 30
minutes.  I think I could have skipped this step, but since I did not really
know what I was doing I thought it was a good idea.  At the end of the first
30 minutes, these leave needed a little more drying, so I left them in the
oven until the next night until I got home.  I put the dried leaves in a air
tight container.

The friend who gave me the fresh basal told me that she removes the leaves
from the stems and lays the leaves on papertowels all over her kitchen for a
few days until they are dry.
