You had a defective ball it sounds like.  People always sit on these a long time and my daughter bounces like crazy on mine.

Not to embarrass Terrence, but, as a coworker,  I was there and it was quite
a loud pop and a very big surprise. We didn't even realize that it had split
completely in half for a couple of minutes. I personally thought that it
just got a big hole in it and then we found the second half. Definitely, if
you are going to sit on it for hours at a time, buy well!

I would give one word of advice though: make sure you get a sturdy one. I
had one at work that was a bit on the flimsy side. I had it for about 2
years, and all of a sudden, there was a resounding *POP!* accompanied by the
thud of me landing on the floor. The ball, for its part, was lying next to
me, in two pieces. 
Moral of the story: make sure you don't buy the cheap WalMart variety! '-)

They are good for people with back problems and can not sit for a long time.
I tried one for a few minutes, at work.  I met a lady that sits on one and
works from one all day.  She can not sit in a chair for long. Just wondering
if it might help me, maybe while crafting and listing to the tv at home.
