[Nfb-krafters-korner] tie dye folks

For the tie-dye, I did a t-shirt, but used the new Sharpie fabric markers,
which claim to have brush tips. Because of this, I thought they had a wider
tip width and would make a thicker line, so didn't do dots, but just
freehand lines in a multi-colored spiral. Unfortunately, there really
doesn't seem to be any difference in tip width between the fabric markers
and the regular markers, so it still looked like lines, even after I dripped
on the rubbing alcohol.

Still, it was a fun experiment, and I am going to try it again, but plan my
design more carefully. I also still like the idea of rubber banding the
t-shirt over a wastebasket with paper towels or newspaper placed in the
bottom so that I can try creating a larger design.

Lastly, a note for those who may be completely blind like myself: when the
directions say to saturate the fabric with the rubbing alcohol in order to
get the colors to blur and blend, it really does mean saturate until it is
quite wet. Not dripping wet, but still wet enough that you could wring out
the liquid. I started by using a larger version of an eye dropper--this is
the kind you can get from craft stores and online craft vendors-- but that
was really very slow, so finally I just dripped rubbing alcohol on the
fabric straight from the bottle. I poured very slowly and carefully, maybe a
half teaspoon at a time, and this went much better.
