Terry,

To my knowledge, circular needles have no size marked on them.  I have to
rely on a needle gauge.  I have a metal one that goes from size 0 to 16.
That is the surest way.  I have also brailed the cellophane	 packaging
that they come in.  But, once out of the package, you will need your needle
gauge.  This was one of my biggest questions when I started knitting again.
I have had a friend put Braille with puff paint on the end of the needle, I
have cut a milk carton into strips, punched 4 holes into it and then run my
needles through the holes and marked the plastic strip with a marker for the
size; you could stick a Braille label on the plastic also.  Get yourself
some Ziplock 2 gal. bags to keep your project in and keep the needle in
there also.  Your pattern will tell you what size needle you were using.
Storage is key.  But, in the end, my needle gauge is my bible!

can get some help, matching needles with the correct packaging.  I sure hope

I have found that it will read or identify knitting needles and crochet
hooks.  The barcodes are on the packages so you need to keep them in the
plastic sleeves the knitting needles come in.

The omni works grate!  I use mine at work and home at  least 3 times a week
and have been using it lately for my paints since all of  them come from the
store with a bar code on the bottle and if it isn't in the  data base I can
add it .

We have talked about  the ID Mate and with Gail's demonstration over the
phone to me last year I  just had to get one.  I did get the summit model,
but this is a good  price and if they refurbished it I am sure they put the
updated data file in  it.  I was told that they update the data file twice a
year and the  newest one will be out in April, but I love mine.

If you go to National  Convention and bring along your data card they will
update it for free.[at  least that is what Gail reported to me.
