Dixie,
What Pow Wow are you talking about? Was that here in CT?
I know that at one of the CT NFB state conventions they had a person from
the Foxwood tribe there and they had talked about blind natives learning the
Indian bead work. I think they said something about having a meeting
place for beading in Rhode Island.
I wonder how we can find out more about that? This convention was going
back several years ago.

Um, let's see.
A pony beads about 3/8 inch in diameter as well as height. They have a
1/4 inch hole, so they are easy to string onto fabric and cords, and things
with some thickness to it. I have only worked with the plastic ones, but,
do know that there are ceramic ones that I have seen in pieces at the native
American Pow Wow that I have been to. Hmmmm, come to think of it, I don't
know if they are stilled called pony beads then? Anyone know?

Dixie, can you describe what shape a pony bead is? They are larger beads
and have a big enough hole in them and that is why Girl Scouts use them a
lot.
