You just use a large eyed needle and "hide" the tail in your work.

Yes and speaking of that I want to make a baby hat for a shower enxt 
weekend. I have a pattern but want to change it from working flat to 
in the round. But I also want the trim to be a different color and 
wonder how to sew that loose end in at the finish?
I like some challenges but want to not be too challenged or I may give up.
