[Nfb-krafters-korner] hand building with terra cotta clay

Sometimes I'll just take a piece of clay and force my mind off the clay and
onto something else like a tv show or music and just let my hands do the
work. The things I've come up with that way have really been interesting
and are the pieces my friends like best.

Hi Georgia,
This is Lynda River Woman not Diane that you were talking with - I am the
one who gave you information on the kinds of clay and how I use it. I am an
artist who lives in Pennsylvania.

Nice to meet you here. There is another potter here who is on sometimes,
her name is Jeannie, and she is a former painter like I was. We lost our
sight after many years of being a painter - both of us recently - so we are
doing pottery now. I am a professional artist and former art professor.

I think you will love making things from clay. My advice is not to worry
about it, but just get your hands in it and let them become friends with the
clay. Soon, when you are working, you will feel like you are one with the
clay and it will no longer be a head exercise, the body knows how to make
art, all of the body. Once you get past just trying to do art with your
mind, then you can begin to really have wonderful results. It is a whole
body thing, art making - you will find your inspiration all around you, no
matter where you live. So happy to hear there is another person here who is
beginning to make things with clay. It is wonderful and sooooo tactile. I
love to just hold my things, and run my hands all over them, after they are
made. The FEEL so wonderful. You will love it. Lynda River Woman
