My Grandma while I was growing up always crocheted.  She would have a  
small pair of scissors that she had a piece of elastic -like you would use for  
sewing in a waist band of clothing[  It was put thru the handle of the  
scissors and just tied in a knot.  She had a large safety pin thru the  elastic 
and then pinned this to her dress.[Gram never wore pants only when she  
worked in her garden].  She told me she could always find her scissors this  way 
when she sat down and crocheted.
