[Nfb-krafters-korner] Collage for Willy

Hi Dick, I am Lindy, from Cape Town, South Africa.
Here are just some ideas I have thought about. Perhaps there is something
that can help you guys or that can set you thinking some more?
Maybe you should not do the blindfold thing before you have checked how
Willy handles the glue, so you can help him with cleaning if he wants that.
Having a bowl of lukewarm water nearby could help with this, with or without
a little soap. If you are outside, being near a tap could also help?
If you are inside, cover the table or surface with some newspaper, so if
things get sticky, clean-up is easier.
I sometimes use a glue pen or glue stick instead of the big pots. I like to
do this, but I'm not sure how Willy would like it. Perhaps you could use a
stick or pen and squeeze a little onto one of his fingers so he can rub it
onto the surface or object you are going to use.
One can also get a roll of thin double-sided tape or little squares that
have glue on both sides, which are normally used to attach photos or other
elements to scrap books. These are of course less messy, and you could, for
instance, place a line of tape or some squares on the surface beforehand, so
he can just stick on whatever he wants to. I guess it will depend on both of
you as to what you want to achieve, etc.
For some 3-dimensional objects, I would imagine the tape or squares won't
work well, since these objects might need proper glue to hold them firmly on
the collage surface.
Just something else I have done with my two little ones too: We are
collecting rocks and shells whenever and wherever we find them. I have
chosen two interesting dishes and we place the objects in them. The one
container is a flat bowl, so it is easy for sighted people to see the stones
and I like to touch them and try to remember where we got them, etc. I don't
think we will paint them, but I have wondered about polishing them with some
kind of varnish so they will be shiny and smooth?
Best of luck with your project.
Lindy
