He wanted a sterdy pocket, he could keep the plastic card you use to get in and out of the gate to the office building.  We made it so it would hang to something in the car and not get lost.  Men do not cary purses and this way he did not have to fumble in his walet or pocket, for his gate card.  This made it right at his finger tips.
