So now you have gorgious boxes to hold your treasures, or put holiday candy
in or maybe a small silk flower arrangement. Just a new creation.

Hi everyone,

Since our discussion on Monday night will be on making pottery, I thought
I would share yesterday's experience with you. Here is what happened to me
yesterday:

When I went to the art center yesterday to gather my harvest from the
kiln, it was not a happy day for me. Alas, the kiln gods had not accepted my
gifts and as they came OUT of the kiln, something was very wrong! Making
pottery is never a done deal, until you see what comes OUT of the final
firing. I did something very STUPID that affected my entire load of work. I
had made my Spirit Treasure Boxes - four of them. It took me about 7 weeks
from beginning to end - and the ending yesterday was not happy.

What did I do that was stupid? I forgot that when you are firing things
that will go together, like the lids and the bottoms of the boxes. Yes, I
know, very stupid of me to NOT put the LIDS ON THE BOTTOMS of the boxes
BEFORE they were fired. And, sure enough, the kiln gods noticed my little
mistake and wreaked havoc with my boxes. ONLY ONE LID fits onto the bottom of
its box. It was the smallest one. but, the other three larger ones, no way.
So there I have it - three beautiful box bottoms, and three gorgeous box
tops, and never the two shall meet! I know the kiln gods are laughing and
dancing with joy today. They win. The boxes were to be taken this week to my
gallery to be sold. That will certainly NOT be happening now.

Just to let you know, we all have our bad days with making art, any kind
of art. We all make mistakes that cost us so much grief. Things sometimes
do not turn out in any way like we might have wanted them to. But, we keep
on making our stuff any way. We sill win. There is always another day -
always more clay to be wedged and formed into "something." And, the kiln gods
are awaiting the next batch, I just know it.
