[Nfb-krafters-korner] Bolek and tree kits

I will say it is best to finish off by twisting wire tight before going to
next row. It completes the row and gives you more of a circle shape to
followwhen doing the next row. It is easy to pick up the wrong pin from the
previous row. I do know that for sure as I have made mistakes and instead
of undoing a entire row, I have cut the wire in 2 consecutive rows to fix
a mistake. I don't advise you doing that until you have more practice
under your belt.

Now for the starting on #7 pin. It will still be adding the 24 pins in a
2 pins and then previous row tthen 1 pin and previous row. It is starting
off on that C pin to just stagger the colored pins into a different pattern
texture. I am saying texture as the pins have the colored bead coming at
different levels on each pin and I am guessing it does it to shift it up
and down as you would put ornaments on a tree.

Now as Theresa did say she is reading the pattern the way Bolek has written
it. There is no reason why you can't put them on another order. That
way is your original creation. Just as we said in the class, it would be
good to do it in green and the colored beads. You can purchase all the things
you got in the kit as lights, star, pins, beads. You just have to
purchase the items in the amounts that they sell the bags and supplies. So you
might have to purchase more then you need, but it is always good to have
extra ones on hand.

Hello all,

Just wanted to let you all know that I called Bolek today and they were
happy to send me the beads missing from my kit free of charge or shipping.
They said they will send them right out, so I will be good to go.

Today my husband and I worked on row three of the pins. It was puzzling to
us to find that the directions didn't work out and we ended up having to
adjust the pattern.

You see what happened was that we had eight pins in row one, and 16 in row
two, then 24 in row three. This made sense to us because row two had a 1 1
pattern, while row 3 had a 2 and 1 pattern. However, the perplexity came
when the instructions said to begin at the marker pin, which in our case
was
seven pins into the row. When we did the pattern in this way, we ran out of
pins in row two to connect with, before we ran out of c pins. All we could
think to do was to start at the beginning of the row, which enabled us to
follow the pattern correctly. The tree is now looking like a tree, but
maybe the color pattern is not quite right.
Another thing we neglected to do until row 3 was completed was to connect
the two ends of row two. Could it be that this was the problem?

Anyway, If anyone out there can figure out what if anything we are not
understanding, i.e. how we can start in seven pins and still end with all
pins used, please let me know. we will work it over again. I did talk to
Theresa on the phone about this, but I believe I was unable to explain our
puzzlement clearly. I often write better than I speak.

Also, just as a note from a newbee, I believe I would have preferred not to
have laid the pins out before starting the row. If I'd done the project
alone, it would have been difficult to keep the pins straight while fooling
with the wire, that is even if My cat hadn't been up on my dining room
table, very interested in what we were doing. Taking them one by one from
my
bag would have been easier and "safer" for me I believe.

Thanks,

Ohio

How many do you need. I have at least 15, maybe more.

I really liked Terry P's idea of saving extra kits after a project. I plan
to do this, I have a few large stars and colored beads to start my
collection. Thanks for the tip about putting broken beads in the center of
the pin. however, my broken ones were unusable, but I substituted large
stars and hope they will fit into the tree. My other option is to short a
few other E pins, so I can have close to the amount needed.

Which option is preferable, larger star substitutes or shorting other E
pins?

I To had many of the stars that were broken. But since whe did not have a
lot of the beads I did what I could and put one broken one one close to
where the pin is in the center of the tree. I did have a pack of beads
missing about 15 of the larger star beads and five of the pins. They are
replaceing the missing beads and pins. But if I am going to make another I
think I will gather the beads. That way if I miss any it will be me to
blame. lol Hugs all CarolAnn
