O K, I guess it can't hurt to try.

Carol, don't be intimidated about overalls and T-shirt. There
are seams
that curve, but it is time for you to take on seams that curve.
You have
done very well with the apron, so try the overalls.

Ramona, I have finished my homework and can't wait for next
weeks class.
I thank everyone for there help. When I finished I showed it to
Ed, I
told him I was especially nervous about the 2 seams we made to
divide the
pocket into thirds. He said, oh, I didn't realize you even did
that. my
red stitches ran straight along the one quarter inch wide red
stripe and
he didn't even see it until I brought it to his attention. The
suggestion
you made in class, to iron a crease in the fabric to folow
really helped
 too.

 Thank you all again.

Carol, you have received a lot of great suggestions, so you can
experiment
with them. I have just one more. Be sure that your fabric that
lies to
 the
left of your presser foot does not get twisted or too wadded up.
Your
husband is right, that your machine does not need a lot of help
to pull
 the
fabric through as it sews. However, a little guiding on the
right helps.
It is also important to be sure that nothing pulls from the
left. And
 when
you are sewing a fairly long seam, try some speed. When sewing
slow, you
are more likely to move your hands and the fabric sideways. Not
everybody
likes the same type of guide, so you just have to experiment
some. Also,
 be
sure that your thread at the beginning of the seam does not
catch under
 the
presser foot or on the cabinet. That causes your fabric to
bunch up, and
then it will not move smoothly forward.

It is so exciting to have so many sewers all sharing ideas. I
am looking
forward to learning more about what you make.

I am having a hard time sewing straight seams. My husband, Ed,
tells me
 it
is because I am trying too hard. He says the machine will sew
straight if
I just make sure the fabric is flat and free to be pulled by the
machine.
I feel like I have to have my fingers up near the presser foot
so I know
 what is happening.

Do any of you experienced sewers have an opinion?

 Carol
