Hi Neva and all,

Just a thought, but perhaps if the Braille transcribing service is willing
to transcribe a kit, you might want to have them do a kit other than the
"flower pup," because I am already transcribing this one for everyone
myself. If you are able to get another kit transcribed, then you could share
it with all of us and then we'd all have two kits that we had access to
making.

Glad you received your kit, and I also must ask some one to help me sort out
my yarn. I had initially been thinking of using plastic bags with brailed
cards in them, but remembering the way that the small pieces of yarn stuck
to each other and remembering the tedious process of extracting a single
strand of yarn from the bag without other strands also coming out
inadvertently, I have been considering using small disposable food
containers. My husband and daughter take lunch to work and could use these
containers for their food and I could use them for my yarn. my husband just
ordered a set of containers with lids of various sizes in the package from
4oz to 16oz. with dymo taped labels on the containers lids, I think this
might be a new and easier way to keep my yarn sorted, rather then in the
bags.

Please let us know if the Braille transcribing service will transcribe a
kit, because I'd like to get "moon meow," transcribed for myself.

I've also sent the pattern for Puppy Love to the Braille Library and
Transcribing Service for a quote. I'll let you know when I hear from them.
I've got my kit and plan to work with my daughter to get the yarn sorted
next week. Looking forward to the class.

Hi all,

 

Just wanted to give all of you a heads up on the "flower pup." I have
received my kit, sent the instructions to my sister, and today the two of us
began to type out the pattern for "flower pup." My sister is visually
impaired and uses a CCTV and found the tiny chart somewhat difficult to work
with, but with us together on the phone, her reading the color for each
square and me typing it into a file, the project is coming along really
great! So get those kits folks, we will be definitely having a class, most
likely on March 2nd. The class is not posted yet, but will be soon. 

 

I did want to warn you of something that did give me a bit of a shock. I
learned today that there are fourteen colors, not eight! I also learn that
there are fifty squares in a row and 66 rows for a total of 3300 pieces of
yarn to latch hook!  so far my sister and I have typed up ten rows. It is a
tedious process because of the need for complete accuracy, but as I've said,
things are going well.

 

More updates as we progress.
