Yes, I have bought a lot of things in NYC when there, too. There are some
really great places and the garment district is very good to shop in.
I will check out the PR site she suggested. My supplier got too old and sold
their store in OSJ two years ago. Bummer! My husband and I shopped there -
we each bought a back pack full of gem stones - very heavy to carry - some
people thought we were carrying twins when we left the store with our 40
pound packages wrapped up in a bundle. I was so sad when I found they had
sold their store and were gone. I have two other stores where I buy other
things and just love the people who own them.
Soon, very soon, we will again be there walking in sunshine and enjoying the
days.

One of my friends who has HPS and is from PR got back to me. She actually
lives in Switzerland now as she married a guy from there, but she comes to
New York once a year for our conference, and once a year to PR to visit
family. Here's what she suggested:
Hi Heather,
I also do Jewelry and great part of the materials I buy in PR. I would
advice your friend to take a look at Alonso Sobrino, this warehouse is in
Bayamón (close to San Juan) There I found many things that as ground
material make a good choice. The price scale I couldn't judge because it
depends on your friend's budget. I'm sure there is as little for everyone
there. Also in Old San Juan there are many shops that sells or provide
sortiment for Jewelry makers.
I am more oriented to organic stones and self made material. Either I make
my own stones (with different materials) or I order it by glass stone makers
(this stones are beautiful and unique. For conference I have some pieces
ready with other type of stones but I am working on the integration of
recycled material to my jewelry and from the results you could hardly tell
the difference, it really looks good. Also, I like to bring back the macramé
techniques with refresh looks and colors also made with beads.
I plan to take a look at the bead warehouses in New York because I heard
that the sortiment and price is good. So, we will see if I get to that :) If
you guys know of places like this, please let me know, it makes the
searching easier.
I hope the information helps.
