[Nfb-krafters-korner] [Bulk] Re: easy sock pattern?

I have now been "de-lighted" for four years. The first thing I learned to do
on my own, before I could get some help and rehab, was to knit again. When I
lost my sight I had been knitting since a small child and could do antyhing
at all. Once de-lighted, it was impossible because I kept trying to SEE the
stitches, and could not. Finally, I realized I needed to close my eyes, so
that my BRAIN could understand that my eyes were not working. After four
years, the brain still thinks the eyes can see. But the other thing is that
a person who has not been blind very long does not have a sensitive touch at
all - usually. Doing things by touch is not something that is easily done
and is not so successful a lot of the time. I realy on sighted knitting
friends to look at my work and find the things I cannot find by touch. And,
usually they are things that I could never fix at all by touch even if I had
found them. I have figured out what kinds of yarn and what kinds of
patterns are more successful for me, so that I what I do these days. It is
still GOOD.
