hi  Carol  1 hold the loom in either your left or right hands  2 the anchor peg should be in front of you  3  peg  number  1  will  be to the right of the anchor  peg start  to e  wrap from  peg 1  to the right or counter clock wise around the loom 4  wrap the yarn from in front of you not farthest away from you  5  yes the grooves are for the hook  to be able to slip under the yarn I hope that I have answered your questions for you write again if you need more help looking forward to seeing you in class take care regards Henry
