Hi,
All this sounds interesting. Do not know if I would be able to participate
in a class for a while.
One thing about latch hook kits, is you might need a sighted person to help
sort the yarn. The yarn for latch hooking is about 2 and one half inches
long, and they bundle it in a cylinder shaped plastic sleeve. One of these
sleeves of yarn will most likely have more than one color bundled in
together.

Sorry, I did not see any German Shepherd kits, but other animals and insects
are there. I have two black labs living at my house at the moment, and my
previous four guide dogs were black labs as well. so, I wish the pattern had
a black lab in it too! 

However, the way it works is that the kits come with all the yarn needed for
the project, no substitutions. If you really wanted to change the color of a
puppy or puppies, you would have to purchase extra yarn, which is certainly
possible to do on the site. 
 however, you then would have to have some one to let you know where on each
row to substitute your colors. In my opinion this would make an already
complex pattern even more complicated. But this is totally up to each of you
what you'd like to do.

Len asked if everything comes with the kit and it depends on which kit you
want because they are from different companies. Some do not come with a
latch hook tool, and most do not come with a frame and backing material. All
come with canvas and yarn.

It is also possible to purchase blank canvas, purchase colors of yarn you
want and create your own design.  Theresa has mentioned that she has done
this before.

I am willing to teach a latch hook class, but not for such a complex
pattern. So you folks are on your own for the puppies.
If anyone would like info on a particular pattern, a description of what it
looks like, let me know which pattern and I will ask my sister to write and
tell me.  she did say that some look like paintings, very realistic like the
lab puppies and others are like cartoons and do not look as nice.
