You might want to try some yarn about the thickness of the thicker of the loops and thread, but the thick and quick, sure will give you a thick and cozy scarf.   If you try thick and quick, I suggest you get an extra scain.  This takes up a lot of yarn.  I can make a scarf with 2 scains of thick and quick, regular thickness, but the thicker blend, took me 3 and some solid.  
This was on the round loom.
