hi LM,

I learned to crochet using an H hook and worsted weight yarn. in my class I
suggested folks try heavier yarn and a K hook. for the most part, folks
seemed to prefer the lighter yarn and a smaller hook.  as I have said
before, use what feels comfortable while learning. once you get the hang of
it you can branch out with different sized hooks and weights of yarn.
personally, I believe a P or Q hook is quite large, especially if you are
not using super bulky yarn.
