Good for you. I use old cord from clothing for my cord. My eye cord has a tendency to stretch. 

This isn't exactly a fashion item. Maybe it is a good time to practice that sewing up knitted items. You can surely do it. If you can do the knitting you can weave in and out of the bottom. lol
