I think I will never stop crochetting either. I have slowed down though. I
take orders for things and make a bit of extra money on the side. I won't be
at convention this year boohoo. I will be there in spirit though. I don't
know really when I will be able to get to the next convention for the nfb
because the next several years it will be in Orlando. My husband and I can't
both go there every year. Maybe I will go one year and take a few extra days
off and see the park but the two of us will have to have our credit cards
both paid off before that will happen I'm afraid. How much does it cost to
join the group at convention if I may ask. I'm not a paying member yet and
would love to become one.

I'd like to practice nalbinding when I get to the part at convention where I
get to sit down. Do any of you who will be at convention know how to do this
craft in case I get stuck? If the term is new to you, it is a Viking art
that uses a short needle with a big eye, like a size 16 needle, or the
handmade wooden needle my SCA friend gave me, to do a very early form of
knitting or crochet (take your pick) with a cut strand of yarn.
Traditionally it was used to make small items - socks, gloves, and hats. It
has the benefit, especially for socks, of having no knots where you connect
one finished thread to the next cut piece of yarn. The connection is felted
via a tiny bit of spit and rapid rubbing to heat up the connection.

Ramona and Meg,

I won't be coming into dallas until Saturday evening but I will try
very hard to come to the meeting.

Meg, I too think I will crochet and crochet and crochet. I do find it
very relaxing and have noticed it is very easy to have 2 or 3 hours
just slip away. My mom recently had foot surgery. I sat by her bed and
crocheted the entire weekend I was with her in the hospital. She said
I looked so relaxed. She seemed so happy that I finally learned how to
do what her and my grandmother do.
