I think people take jars or maybe bottles, put poferee or spices and cover it with cloth so the smell can come out, through the cloth.

Fill the clean bottles with M and M's,or any small candy,  cut out a peace of fabick around them and tie it, in my case with a yarn bow. Put them in a dish and give them out like gifts to everyone who comes to your home. A gift for someone who takes you to church or shopping. Make sure you have some for your precious diabetic friends, hugs. Maybe the bow could be different or add a bell, so you know independently.
