If it is verigated, how are you going to work with it, double stranded?  I do not think that would look very pretty.  The colors in the two strands would not match.

Is 888 feet of yarn, about the size of a cone?

Yes, friends - you heard me right -  If you get fingering yarn which is barely smaller than worsted weight you get 880 yards of fingering weight . 
If you get his worsted  you get 440 yards of worsted.
He told me to get the Fingering yarn and double it, and use size 8 needle for the double basket weave and that it would be far lighter and lacier than if I used the worsted weight yarn for a scarf.

He told me "you might get more yarn for your money that way" and if he says so, well, he is the expert at this. VERY EXCITING.

If you are looking for great yarns - hand dyed and to YOUR specifications, you cannot beat this. The thing is, Onix is an artist, so his colors are so far beyond what you find on the market - and the quality of his yarns are the best possible.
