[Nfb-krafters-korner] New Group Forming

Lynda, I have several kinds of gift bags: some for wine, some smaller and
wider, some with both ends small like those for plastic bags. I will have a
couple of baby afghans, several scarves, and some hats. Some are totally
hand done; some are a mix of hand knitting and machine knitting. I also am
donating a lap blanket for the drawing, rainbow colors, very soft with some
angora in it, just stockinette stitch with a double moss stitch border. I
have some cushions covered with machine-made slip covers, but they are
probably too bolky for the table space I have available. They were great
practice for learning the machine, and people like them.

You are more patient than I am. I keep wanting to move on to new things, so
I have to finish what I am doing. And I use more synthetic than silk and
wool, although I love that yarn. Wool sweaters are really too warm for most
days here, unless you use very fine yarn, and I can't afford to buy much of
it. But a lot of the synthetics are still very nice feeling. I lost playing
with colors, and I never have seen them. It amazes me how people's opinions
of color combinations vary, but I get lots of comments about what I do at
meetings and on airlines, etc. I am putting textured designs on some hats.
I went looking at knit hats for ideas this morning, and I found that all in
one store had ribbed edges which surprised me. Several had two balls on
top, one on each side like ears. I was not impressed, but my friend gushed
about them. I am not making any like that, but I will use the ribbed edge
idea. I like making hats with the circular needle with basket weave pattern
or diamonds, etc. I always check out what they are selling in stores to be
sure I am keeping up with the fashions. I didn't see any long tails on top
of hats like they were wearing a few years back.
Ramona . .
