 Blake;

Self striping yarn is like verigated yarn, but the sections of different colors are very long. This causes stripes in your item. When I got my yarn, I just thought it was big stripes of black and white. When I started knitting, I started out with black and then it changed to like a zebra patern. It altrinated back and forth between black and white. This went on for a few rows and then, back to black. My hat is nice. The first one, which I have not finished, is all done in the striped yarn. I chose to make a second, with a black brim and striped body. This one came out great! I will finish the other and compare the two.
Hope to get my hands on some other combinations. Not sure if all will have that zebra effect, but different colors or will some be just solid colors. Guess well just have to order or check the description.

You've gone and made me curious. What is self-striping yarn?
