 What yarn did you use?  I like verigated yarn.  What colors are in the blend?

Yes, you knit one row and purl another. However, on the purl row, the first two and last two stitches on that purl row should be knitted. 

You can do as many rows as you like and as many stjtches, and that will vary depending on the size of needles used. I'm using 13's because with the yarn I have, the afghan looks thick and full and have about 120 stitches.
