[Nfb-krafters-korner] NFB rules

LOL, I spoke to someone higher up than me in NFB. He also told me that all
NFB Divisions basically work the same, however; those divisions who have
enough members in their state or local chapters can come and meet with their
chapters which can draw more members or can be recognized by their state
affiliate and be allowed to hold administrative meetings at their state
convention. I know that here in Virginia, we have state divisions such as;
diabetic, blind students, parents with blind children, blind murchants and
the deaf/blind. These divisions are also represented on the national level
and also meet during the national convention. Some even have confrences
outside the state or national conventions. I believe all of these divisions
I've mentioned either come together this way or at least on the national
level, join together in a group like we do. I can look more into this and
maybe e-mail Fred Shroder since he is our state affiliate president,
first-vice president of NFB and first-vice president of the World Blind
Union.
Basic structuring isn't a problem. Constitutional foundations can be simple
and basic or be so complicated that you need an instructional manual just to
understand how to read the first page.
I think that a confrence meeting a bit before the convention and one a bit
after should be enough for members to both have an in put on what to
anticipate for the convention and the results there after. Posting of the
general minutes, election results and a basic treasurer's report should be
given during the second conference call and then posted to our group's web
site for members to view. A detailed treasurer's report should be kept by
the treasurer, president and the secretary, but should not be posted on
either the list nor the web site, but if a member has questions concerning
the treasurer's report, then they should address the questions to our
treasurer directly via e-mail. I would even go so far as to CC the
president as a curtisy with your inquiry to the treasurer. This will cover
any misunderstandings of feeling like you are going behind anyone's back.
Let me know what else I can do for you and the group.
