Generally speaking, all division members are going to be regarded as NFB 
members.  We are a division of the NFB.  Therefore, all division members are 
also members of the NFB.  You don't have to be a member of the NFB in order 
to join NFB, because you are joining when you become a member of the 
Division.

You do not have to attend a national convention in order to be elected to 
office.  However, it is easier for people to know you if you are at the 
convention. Therefore, most officers and board members are likely to go to 
at least some national conventions.   This discussion demonstrates that it 
is desirable to know some things about how the NFB operates to be a leader 
in an NFB division.  Of course, we are learning as we go; we expect that. 
One of the reasons I have some of this data is because I served as state 
president for a decade or so and on the National Board.

We are always eager for new people to contribute new ideas and take on jobs. 
That is the way we grow and thrive.  We have always had some NFB members 
from overseas, but it has been hard for them to participate the way we can 
now online.  This is a new phenomenon in the NFB, but a good one to try. 
Since our national votes are by state delegates, participation in divisions 
may be a good thing for people from outside the U. S. who want to work with 
other blind people. All of this online stuff is making new possibilities. 
Because of the lists and Web Sites and social media, we are doing things we 
have never done before.  I think that is a good thing.
