[Nfb-krafters-korner] dropped stitches

Diedra,

Needles will depend on the yarn you use, and the pattern you choose.

With the Cherry Tree Hill yarn, size 5 is called for and that is what i have
used.

But with the Schachenmayr Nomotto, size 6 or 7 is called for. The label will
give you suggested needle size on the yarns.

Since I am working from my UFOs I just found another container (or actually
2 of them) with sock yarn and needles - and one of the containers has one
finished sock in it! One of the containers has a skein of superwash Colori
in it - with the needle range on the label that says size 2, 3, or 4.

I also have a lot of sock yarn in my stash - way too much to count. All
kinds of sock yarns there, even some silk ones, and some by the designer
Kaffe Fasset - which is so colorful.

The other container, with one finished sock, has Schoeller Stahl Fortissima
Socka yarn in it. that one has size 1 or 2 needles listed on the label. I
had size 1 needles in that container so I must have made the finished sock
out of the size 1 needle. That sock is very fine and it is a lace pattern on
it.

So they are all different according to the yarn you are using. You can get a
pattern you like, then find the right size yarn to make it with - it should
tell you all that on the pattern.

I do the opposite - I buy the yarn I fall in love with, then I go on a hunt
to find the pattern it will work best in. I am just crazy about sock yarns -
they are so soft and beautiful.

I have not yet bought any Opal sock yarn, but I have heard that is it so
wonderful I had an opportunity to buy some in Germany, but somehow went
brain dead and passed it up. It was, of all places, at a carnival that was
set up in a village - yes, a vendor had a barrel of Opal yarns for sale
there. I was busy with my 9 year old great granddaughter that afternoon in
Rothenburg, and it was beginning to rain, so I did not pause long enough to
buy some - I will always regret that.
