Sounds like a good plan to me.  Casting on is half the battle and getting confident in it is great!  Keep doing it while you have it fresh in your mind so you become confident in it and it becomes old hat!

I'm getting into trouble again today but manage, with yet another neighbor's
help, to pick up a stitch or put a loop back on one needle or another to get
the right count. I'm winging it. 
	I'm ready to go back to square one with casting on, and start from
that beginning again.
