Thanks Barb. I guess the reason I can't seem to remember this is
it seems backward to me. I always think you would start with
number 1 in the upper left hand corner.
I will keep this in my notes.

If you are double knitting, generally, if one is right handed,
the "back"
row, one furthest from you is the even numbered rows.
Most patterns I've read will have you start with the peg on the
back left
side of the board.
