Yes, you will need to soak your reeds before you work with them or they will 
definitely brake.  With the amount your kit provides, your kitchen sink 
would probably be big enough.  Soak them in warm to slightly tepid water 
until they feel pliable, but not limp.  Start with 30 minutes and see what 
happens.  The reeds should be easy enough to work with.  Depending on the 
size of your basket, you most likely will finish it in one setting, 
although, I don't know about leaving the reeds in the water over night. 
There may also be a chance that for the finishing off of your basket, you 
may have to soak the upper portion of your basket in order to make your 
virtical support reeds pliable to weave those reeds along the top edges of 
your basket.

If you have further questions, let me know.  If there are specific parts to 
the directions you don't understand, you may have to tell me exactly what it 
tells you to do.
