[Nfb-krafters-korner] trouble shooting

Here is a trouble shooting story that worked out very well for me. I was
working on a dress for a medieval costume and had just finished surging
together a long seem that went from shoulder to the floor length hem when I
realized that I had put the wrong sides together instead of the right ones.
Completely my own fault too as the fabric was velvet. I set it aside and
worked a simpler project for a little while before the solution came to me.
I did all the seems on the surger the same way, and then used my sewing
machine to turn them into French seems.

I could have just flipped the seem to the inside and put my stitches right
next to the surged edge, but then I would have had that one different seem
to notice every time I wore that dress. I have loaned it out several times
too and never had to feel embarrassed about the one odd seem either. In
addition, in historical costuming the French seam is a more advanced sewing
technique and a sign of a well made garment.

Becky, this morning Henrietta and I were discussing the fact that we each
just had to pull out large projects that we were working on and what a mess
that was to untangle all Bjarne. After I hung up from talking to her I read
