Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] safety pin beading
hi Jennifer,
I never heard of safety pin beading till I joined this group either. I will
explain what it is all about.
you start with safety pins in a size specified in the pattern for what
you are making. then you slip beads of a certain size and color onto the
pins according to the pattern. next you thread these pins onto wire in a
certain order. the pins are connected in a circle, square or rectangle,
and one row is connected above the next to create your project. many
interesting and beautiful things can be made with safety pins. the thing I
made that I love best is a beaded Xmas tree with lights. awesome.
to make things easier, Theresa, our beading instructor, sells kits that
contain all of the supplies needed for each project. she even labels in
Braille the bags of beads and sends out a file containing the pattern.
so it is a totally accessible and fun craft. I was concerned that I might
not like this craft because I would poke myself with the pins. but this did
not happen. so, if you have the money to purchase a kit, I encourage you to
try out this craft.
Cathy
