You are limited on the circular loom to the width that you will make of a  
strip example: for an afghan.  If you have a 40  peg round loom, you  will 
work around the 40 pegs and instead of continuing around you will work back  
in the opposite direction with your wrapping to get a flat piece.  This is  
taught in the beginners class to go around in a circle or go back and forth 
to  create a flat piece on a round loom.
