Just to add an idea for everyone. A former co-worker of the agency would
use recycled state directories (phone books of state workers) to keep notes
in. In Nebraska, they are bound with a spiral closure so they flip nicely
from one page to another. Yes, they still had the Print information on
them, but she was blind and couldn't see it anyway so what better way to
use up the old books!

Hope this idea helps someone!

Cindy Z.

Terry, do you want it to be electronic or paper? You can use a file box for
paper records, 3x5 for phone numbers; 4x6 for a little more information; or
5x8 for patterns or longer notes, even recipes. You can get one, two, or
four drawer filing cabinets in plastic or metal or wood. You can get letter
size (8.5x11 or legal size 8x14. You can use binders of about any size.
Loose-leaf are always convenient. I believe you can get clear plastic
dividers or the regular file folder weight. You can write Braille on about
any file card or folder. You will find better selections at an office supply
store, such as Office Depot or Staples, than at WalMart or a grocery store.
If you like clear plastic, the NFB Independence Market has small sizes of
clear plastic cards. You can order from Thermoform in larger quantities. I
would have to look up thermoform on the internet, but it is in California
and still sells plastic sheets.

Any of the electronic notetakers would work for about any records you
want to keep, unless they are huge. In my BrailleNote, I have phone numbers
and email addresses, knitting patterns, meeting minutes, books from BARD and
Bookshare, and on and on. The only disadvantage is cost. Any Braille user
will LOVE a Braille NoteTAker if he or she can afford one. They are not all
alike, but people tend to use and like what they get. The differences have
been written up in the Braille Monitor. And they will all be in the Exhibit
Room at Convention.
