Hello David,

Making a cotton towel is not the easiest thing to start with to learn how to
knit on a loom. It is best to learn how to knit in the round first, a hat is
a good example. Then later you learn how to knit a flat item such as a
scarf. Cotton is tricky because it does not often come in a ply that is
thick enough to use on a basic loom. So one must use two strands of yarn
held together. This can be done, but is better tried later on. Of course
another choice for the future is to get a smaller gauge loom, where the pegs
are closer together, and then you can use worsted weight cotton. But using a
smaller gauge loom isn't easy to begin learning with.

I am now making a cotton hand towel on circular needles and it is taking
just forever!

Cathy
