Usually the fine and extra fine gauge looms are made for socks and sock
weight yarn. I believe the Kiss loom [all the looms except the sock loom you
can use from sports weight yarn, dk, worstered weight, # 5 and 6 up to a
thick rope if you want to.
They are designed totally different from the normal looms out there.

A large gauge is 3/4 inches between each peg. The 1/2 gauge is a bit
smaller, and then I believe you can get 3/8 which is a slight bit smaller.
I believe that you can get fine gauge looms, but I am not sure what the
distance between pegs are on those looms.
A good estimate is if you can place the tip of your finger between pegs,
you
probably have a large gauge loom.
