Hey, Terry,

That brings back fond memories. When I was in kindergarten so many years
ago, we made a hand print the same way except we put our whole hand in the
clay and then later painted it a flesh color. My mom kept that for a long
time but, I don't know what she did with it. Thanks for that. It would
make a nice gift, especially for someone expecting or who has just had a
baby. Maybe someone could make a paw print of his or her guide dog and put
the name and birthdate and school initials on it.

Regards,

Denise

Jill,

Since you were so nice to share that craft idea I wanted to turn around and
share one with you, hope it is a new one to you. First a story;

I have a friend in Tenn. Whose daughter died by her own hand. So sad, but
this story made me follow up this craft, when she passed, the funeral
director took her thumb print and had a dog tag made for her Mom that she
wears around her heart at all times. So I found this craft.

Take a cut of the polymare clay, in gray or silver or your choice. Knee the
clay until soft, then roll it out to about ¼ inches. Have your child use
their thumb and make an imprint on the clay. Turn over and using a sharp
pont place name and date. Cut a shape from a pattern like a heart, circle
and place a hole in top with point to go on a chain or hook of bracelet.
Placee on paper and bake clay in oven to time suggested by clay. When baked
use a black stamp pad and brush to darken fingerprint on clay. You can seal
this with clear sealer to preserve print. Place on chain or ring hook and
you can always carry around your child’s fingerprint always.

A lot cheaper then impressing on a gold or silver dog tag. Hope you like it.

Terry K
