Hi all,

 

Today is my 61 year old birthday! So, as a birthday present from me to all of my safety pin beading, knitting, crocheting and other crafting  friends here on this list, I want to tell you what I just discovered.

 

If you type in, free birthday stuff, in Google, you find all sorts of free things you can get on your birthday. I haven't looked at them yet, but I am going to do that right now.

 

I love my birthday. I just love to celebrate it all day long in little ways starting with my very own special birthday air that I breathe when I wake up. I guess part of this all day special birthday feeling comes from when I was a child. I attended the Illinois Braille and Sight Saving School, they have changed there name now, but that is what it was then. Anyway, on my birthday I would get a phone call from my family and a gift in the mail, but that was usually all, unless I was home, every now and then. So, I decided that instead of feeling sad because nobody really focused on my birthday in the manner to which I would like to become accustomed, I would do it myself.
I have now developed my birthday celebration into an art form.

 

This  morning, I got up, loaded the dishwasher and pretended that the loading just didn't happen, poured myself a diet coke into a cut glass tumbler from my china closet, got out a delicate small hot chocolate china cup and saucer from the same china closet and am now looking forward to having some luscious, creamy decadent hot chocolate later in the morning. Of course, I am also going to peel some birthday carrots and wash and wrap some birthday potatoes for twice baked potatoes for a birthday meal with the family later this evening. I also told my cat that he has already given me 3 birthday presents because he jumped into my lap 3 times this morning without me trying to coax him to do so. I will try to celebrate the entire birthday like this. It will be lots of fun!

 

So, if today is someone else's birthday on this list, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Come and celebrate with me! What do some other people like to do on their birthday? Let's just make this a double celebration! Let's celebrate all of today's birthdays and, let's have a happy unbirthday celebration for everyone else! Does anyone have a pattern for a safety pin beading, knit or crochet birthday cake with candles?
