Has anyone entered an item in a county fair?
Maybe next year.  No way to get there! Any advice on entering?

Hello everyone!

Our next meeting is this coming Sunday, August 3, in the Woodlands room, after the 8:45 Mass. The next Thursday meeting is next week, August 7, at 7:30 pm in the St. Peter Room. Hope to see you at one or both!

The Montgomery County Fair starts a week from this Saturday. I would love to see many of you talented knitters and crocheters enter something you have made in the Fair this year!  The process is easy. Full directions can be found on the Fair web site: mcagfair.com

Once you find the opening page, click on "Exhibitor Info", then click on "Fair Catalog".

The catalog is MANY pages long. Scroll down the table of contents to "Home Arts Dept. 41-60" and click on that line. Here you will find directions on when and how to enter, and if you look for "crochet" or "knit" you will find all the different categories that your project might fit into.

Basically, you enter by taking your item to the Home Arts building on Thursday, Aug. 7 (from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. if you are a senior, or 4:00 to 8:00 pm if you are younger) or on Friday August 8 (from 2:00 to 8:00 pm).

You will have an easier time if you figure out before you go which category is appropriate for your item. For example, there are 7 subcategories under small afghans:

DIVISION 3: AFGHANS: Small
Small, Length PLUS width less than 60”.
1.       Infants blanket, 3 ply.
2.       Infants blanket, 4 ply.
3.       Infants blanket, original design.
4.       Crib blanket.
5.       Receiving blanket.
6.       Afghan by an exhibitor age 70 older.
7.       Other, except any of the above.you want to enter your item in

Lots of fun just figuring out the best category! It is also helpful if you take address labels so that your name and address do not have to be handwritten by the volunteer who is accepting your entry.
