Hi Terry P,

I have entered several items in the Virginia state fair before.  I had 
sighted assistance because my sister always enters her wood carvings.  The 
main thing you need to find out is the catagory specifications that are 
being judged.  For instance, if you want to enter a baby blanket you may 
have to choose from groupings like knitted baby blanket, crochetted, using 
hand spun wool or even natural fibers.  I had a baby blanket and a recliner 
afgan that I entered in two different classes and received a second place 
for each.  I have entered two of my paper baskets, one out of news papers 
and the other from card stock paper.  The card stock basket went into paper 
art and the news paper basket went into recycled materials.  I received a 
3rd place for that basket.

You may have to contact the ones holding the fair for further details.  With 
the state fairs, you can find everything on-line and contact people/numbers 
for certain events.
