[Nfb-krafters-korner] some interesting tid bits

Hi Jill,

Thanks for sharing. I always love knowing such things because you never know
when they just might come in handy.
Or one idea may just lead to another?
Our bills over here in SA are all different lengths, which may make it
difficult to use as measuring tools, but it does actually make it possible
for us to identify our notes by measuring their length with a nifty little
device called a money stick. It is a long metal object and you insert your
note into it from the top. It has different markings if I can call it that
and, depending on where your note reaches, you can identify it by size.

I like the ice cream stick idea too because for some people it may be easier
to guide their fabric when it is still some way from the point of sewing, if
that makes sense.

I simply use my pressor foot as a guide, lining up my fabric to the left or
right or at the center of the two parts of the pressor foot. This may not be
very accurate if you are doing things like quilting where you need exact
measurements, I think, but I am able to sew straight using this method and
it works well when I simply need to sew along a straight seam and when it
does not matter exactly how far from the edge of the fabric I sew the seam.
For patterns, you often need an exact measure, but I mostly sew without a
pattern.

Thanks again and feel free to keep sharing. I'll do the same.

Lindy

Hi,

I learned of a few little things this week and wanted to pass along.

The first is if you are in need of a measuring tool and one is not
available, you could use a dollar bill. It measures 6 inches long.

Second, I was given the idea of making a longer seam guide on a sewing
machine by using a popsicle stick! I think I need a few of those, well darn
eating is just the price you pay for adaptive devices in crafting! LOL!

Hope someone else finds these helpful!

Jill
