[Nfb-krafters-korner] Dropped stitch query

I highly suggest bamboo/wood needles. They have a more of a drag to the
yarn and helps yarn slipping off the needles. Metal needles are the most
slippery.

Hello Dixie, Well I am knitting on aluminum needles, thanks so much for
this
tip. I'll go and check out the wood ones, would that include bamboo, I've
seen those talked about? Just to lessen the stitch dropping would be
great,
change of needles, more focussed, you never know, I might catch up with
others yet! Thanks so much. Valerie

Valerie,

To add to what else has been said. The material your needles are made out
of can be part of the problem.

For me, metal needles are just too slippery and I will tend to drop
stitches
using them. Then to compensate for that I tighten up on my tension and my
knitting gets tighter and tighter.

A friend recommended wood needles, and for me they made a world of
difference. They are not so slippery and I have relaxed , almost too the
point of too loose with my knitting.

Thanks everyone, this does make me feel like I'll get there in time, just a
matter of being patient, practicing and I really like the suggestion of
checking how you are feeling at the time of knitting, that makes a great
deal of sense. I'm sure I have often been attempting to knit when not fully
focussed, so perhaps when I get interrupted, I'll just put the knitting
down
till later. I appreciate all the suggestions and will get some bulkier yarn
and learn how both the knit and purl stitch are constructed, that sounds a
great idea. Thanks so much for the sharing and info. Valerie
