Ashley, A crochet hook is six inches long. It indeed has a hook on the end
that you make go in and out of loops to make stitches. Now a crochet hook
can also have a cord that goes between two crochet hooks. This is called a
cro hook and is used to hold stitches on the needle or cord for removal
called the backward pass, as part of this technique.

t was like sewing, unless I'm getting it confused with knitting.
